Gold at World Series
European Gold at 18!
A few days before his 18th Birthday, Tom regained his European Championship title! The city of Eindhoven was the location where he clinched the same crown at the tender age of 13.
In his final international competition before London 2012, he managed to score 10s on his toughest trick, the front four and a half somersault. This paved the way for a new personal best of 565.05 with Russia’s Victor Minibaev as his closest competitor, 49.65 points behind.
Tom said “Obviously in 2008 it was 538 (for Olympic gold) and most of my scores have been over that this year.” – in Beijing 2008, Australian Matthew Mitcham won gold with a score of 537.95.
His second European title ensured that the six-day meet finished with two gold medals for Great Britain; after women’s platform synchro pairing Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow won the first British female European title in 74 years.
What a present to yourself for your 18thBirthday, just 65 Days away from London 2012!
