Gold at World Series
Double Gold Champion
This weekend Tom put on a brilliant show at the 2012 British Gas Diving Championships, in Sheffield, winning double Gold at the competition.
The event was also the all-important Team GB trial, which helps decide who will be given a place on the Team GB diving squad for London 2012.
Tom and his synchro partner Pete Waterfield not only achieved a personal best in the competition, which gave them the gold medal, but also set a new British record with their outstanding score of 475.77 – a full 140 points ahead of the Silver medal winners, Daniel Goodfellow and Ross Haslam.
After this impressive performance on Friday in the synchro Tom took to the boards again on Sunday to compete in the individual event. Tom claimed the top spot with a fantastic score of 547.60
“I am really happy with both performances at the Team GB trials in Sheffield. It’s always great to do well in front of a home crowd and I feel positive about all the dives in my list going into the London 2012 games.”
The official announcement of the Team GB diving squad has confirmed that Tom will take up a place in the 10m synchro and 10m individual events.
“Competing in front of a home crowd at the Olympics is the pinnacle of anyone’s sporting career so it feels great that I am going to get the chance to do just that. I can’t wait!”
